Welcome to the Teen Zone… the place on the Mentor Ohana site where
you can bypass the business stuff and read things written by and for teens. Mentor Ohana
was originally created as a place where teenagers could pick their interests and meet adults
from the community who liked the same things and could be a good role model.
Here's what some people like you said about the program:
“At first I thought having a mentor was just another name for a tutor, but after I spent
some time with my mentor, I realized that she really wanted the best for me and it didn't
have a lot to do with school at all. I think this is going to work out pretty well” K.M.
Kapaa , HI
“Having a mentor outside of my family and outside of school gives me a chance to really
talk openly about what's going on with me. I'm getting an opportunity to learn some things
about a future career that I don't think I would without Mentor Ohana.” J.J. Lihue ,
HI

If you're already a member, just log in at the upper right of this screen when
you're ready to visit your personal page to take your own Tracking Survey, check
you Mentor Ohana emails and calendar, or make and entry in your personal online
journal.
If you're not a member yet, click on the "Apply Here" link at the
top of the screen to find a mentor and fill in the Mentor Matching application
form. It's a fun way to share what you like to do and identify your "style" -
what makes you unique. This information will be matched by the computer to link
you up with a mentor that is right for you. When that match is made, it will
be approved by a Mentor Ohana administrator and your parent or guardian will
be asked to sign off and approve it as well. After that, we'll let you know and
introduce you to your mentor "M-pod"... the group you'll be working
with on your mentoring project after school...
...and besides a lot of other fun stuff we do, the MAIN project is to work on
the Mentor Ohana Teen Radio (MOTR) series... an all-teen radio series that gives
you a voice to be creative, make a statement, interview people in the community,
play music... it's your series, you decide...
